Roadside Stand

A small unstaffed or lightly-staffed seasonal farm sales structure placed beside a public road, often operating on an honor-system or simple payment basis.

A roadside stand is the classic image of on-farm retail: a small structure at the edge of the property, stocked with whatever's in season, often on an honor system with a cashbox or digital payment QR code. Ubiquitous in rural agricultural regions.

Roadside stands are regulated at the local level (zoning, signage) but are typically exempt from many commercial retail rules when selling only the farm's own production. Operating an honor-system stand is a smaller commitment than a farmers-market booth.
